  1. Mmm I make those pancakes too. I use coconut milk instead of milk an that makes them super yummy. And if we have it I sprinkle coconut shavings on top. Mmmm.
Love the pic of your girl. Isn't it amazing how fast they pick up technology. My son can work my iPhone and I'm always amazed how he can just open something with out help!!

  2. You may be interested in this video, showing how beautifully children teach themselves.... Adults in general like to take all the credit for children's learning and often in school it is assumed that children only learn what you spoonfeed them.... and its hard for our egos to admit that they figure out a staggering amount on their own! Hope you enjoy this link, and that it works! I found it really fascinating.

  3. isn't it amazing how tech savvy our children will be? how they will never have experienced information being further away than their fingertips? It's staggering really.

  6. Cassie, i love the taste of coconut, so adding shavings would be delish.

motherfunker, my slow connection won't allow vids, but i'll bookmark it. and YES! to children just doing it on their own. that's the philosophy i go by.

heather, i know! she'll be downloading stuff soon, lol.

anushka, my fave there is meeting up with an old best friend - those times are so special.

denise, typing, properly, is soemthing i never learnt. it's a great skill, i would like to offer that to her. much later! or sooner. :

  9. My joys this week?
Making a 'master chef 3-course dinner' with my beloved (we both hate cooking, and spend all day in the kitchen doing this, and BOY, we had FUN!!!)

    More joy:
    - my son, who has grown out to be a tall, nice young man (almost 19!)
    - finishing an art journal page that I really like!!!
    - getting a nice email from a friend
    - sunny days

I hope you have a joyful weekend Mon!

  11. Hi Monica up in the mountains
if you type in "hole in the wall experiment, India" into google I'm sure you can find out more about it if the YouTube video is not a possibility.... It's really interesting. Autonomous learning is an incredibly efficient and fascinating type of learning which is rather neglected by the school system methinks....

Mountain mists...oh, did you take some pictures? I love mistiness.
I just picked up some color swatches for the bathroom, lol.
Anything specific that you are writing?
And bookcase??? Are you going to make one? If so, I can't wait to see it!

  14. Hello Monica,
My "Joy Pockets" of the week would include watching my niece in her huge singing debut in her high school play, watching our hockey team go on to the next series of the playoffs, painting a door with green chalkboard paint, and a sewing project that went well!
Your blog is lovely and inspiring. Have a nice Sunday.
